Celebrating Mums in Business across Hertfordshire

Family, Hertfordshire, International Women's Day

Join us in empowering Hertfordshire’s entrepreneurial Mums!

For this International Women’s Day…

…I have visited 4 wonderful Mums and business owners in their homes, or at work, to find out how they are all finding the juggle of being a working Mum. They have each told me about what they do, why they decided to set up their own business and what advice they would give their own daughter’s in the future. I have personally worked with each of these Mums in Business so if you are expecting, or have a little one, I highly recommend you check them out!

So take a look at how these Mums have managed the Mum juggle and then why not head over to Instagram to give them a follow and support another local small business!

First up is Becca who I caught up with at the end of February with her lovely daughters as they set up for Becca’s launch event of her new business venture Pop Luxe.

Say Hello to Becca from Pop Luxe…

Can you tell us a little about your business?

Pop Luxe embraces Scandi-inspired design providing high-end, neutral soft play and finely crafted wooden toys for children’s entertainment. Central to our vision is our dreamy dress-up costumes, encouraging children to explore their individuality. We enhance special occasions, be it birthdays, weddings, or christenings, with our signature Pop Luxe charm!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I identified a gap in children’s soft play and entertainment, and wanted to create something aesthetically pleasing, fun, and imaginative, especially for my daughters. Existing soft play options felt garish and plastic! I aimed to merge my daughters’ interests – one enjoys soft play while the other loves imaginative play and dress up – into our brand, offering a unique blend of fun and imagination.

What did you dream of doing when you were little?

It chopped and changed from wanting to be an actress on stage, to an artist and photographer. However, life led me down a very different path in HR. Now, with POP Luxe, I’m reconnecting with my childhood passions and embracing my creative side once again.

What piece of advice do you want your daughters to have when thinking about their career?

My mantra is that “passion leads the way, hard work brings results” so I would try to install that into my girls.

What advice would you give a new Mum wanting to start their own business?

Don’t overthink it – just go for it! Trust your gut and the process, and it’s okay to learn as you go. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll learn and grow!
